On this Monday morning in the wee hours

Really feeling a need to stay more connected with those I love and not feeling very successful. So here I go using this sorta cutting edge technology....let's give it a try, huh?

Done the Facebook, Twitter and texting things, but just getting no satisfaction (some of you will recognize that MJagger phrasing), let's try this on and see how it goes. Sure hope to hear from you and hear what's on your mind and in your lives.

As for me, I'm enjoying the liberties of my senior years creeping to the front; for instance here I am at 2:30 a.m. sitting at my desk creating this blog 'cuz I can sleep in later this morning! How wonderful is that!!!

OK, stay with me here you younger set...you too can look forward to these lazy, crazy days before long! It truly is wonderful watching your grandkids grow into responsible young adults, sharing dinner with your kids, and planning a project with church friends. And I ask you, does it get better than this???? I really think not here on this earth!
Love and kisses to you all,
Jean

  1. Hello! As the daughter of the Mom that is enjoying her senior set...I'm very excited that she gets to do what "she" wants to do for a change instead of her life being dictated to from her family members. As a Mom, you know what I mean - I hope that comment didn't come out sounding bitter due to my life status...because I'm not! As a matter of fact, I'm enjoying seeing my girls growing up into mature young women with lives of their own. This summer they are not sitting around with the "I'm bored" expression on their faces, but rather are making their own plans...I'm just trying to keep up. I think its God's way of preparing me to "let go" in a few years - 'cause this is challenging...them being gone a few days at a time and not knowing everything they are up to. How did my parents deal with this without the age of technology we now live in? When all I have to do is send a text and find out how she is doing...
Oh well, those are the thoughts I'm having today. Feeling more blessed than I deserve! :)

  2. Hey ya'll. Jean, I must admit - you're way ahead of me on the technology front. Not only have I NOT done Facebook, Twitter, etc., this is my first-ever blog entry. Only for you, my friend!

I appreciate the invitation, and want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers far more often than you know. Not a week goes by that I don't use - or think of - something I learned from you or something special we shared.

In fact, in front of me now are the Harmony Kingdom bloodhound neck pillow I bought when we were shopping in Seattle after a business trip. I see the colors navy and coral together and think about your apartment's color scheme ... I think I'll shut up now!Just wanted you to know my words are not idle. Thoughts of you are a part of my life every day.

I'm thrilled to know you're enjoying this season of your life, and know you've more than earned this time!

For me, I'm working to enjoy the journey and constantly fight the desire to long with all of my being to be a lady of leisure.

    Love and kisses,
    Corky

  3. Okay Aunt Jean, I made the trip. Having a difficult time getting it to drop my picture in, but I'll work on that when I have more time. We had Calebs welcome home ceremony put on by the VFW and the Legion today at the Court House in town. It went really well. Police escort in front and back of us. Couldn't have asked for anymore family to be there and not feel guilty. Even had some family on Judys side donate the use, driver and time of a limosine to bring him in, in style. I took Calebs black ranger, which matched the color of the limo, arranged two flags in the back of it, two big U.S Flags. Grandma Ann got a blue star, and Judys Dad, Grandpa Lyle got a blue star flag as well. Judy and I were also presented with one. The blue star flags are given in honor of family and the sacrifices they make on behalf of those serving. Caleb was given a very honorable tribute. The city even put up flags on main street. It was very nice to see such a turn out, and for a service man be recognized for "self-less service", to remind us not to endevor in "self-fish service"!

So anywho.........that was the day and we will try to figure this out as we go, and it is good to begin to keep some type of contact with all. Oh yea, Mom will be leaving Iowa tomorrow morning....and we will have some of Judys cousins arrive about the 7th of July for a two day stay. Uff-Dah! What a summer.

God bless all and take care!
